Training Dates & Daily Schedule December 15–19, 2025

  • Monday, 15 Dec 2025 | 0900–1700 Indoor sessions: Introduction to SAR, outdoor skills & equipment, command & control, risk management
  • Tuesday, 16 Dec 2025 | 0900–1700 Mixed indoor/outdoor: Navigation (bring your own compass), knots & ropes, team leadership, improvised litter carries, SAR concepts (check-ins, radios, helicopters, etc.), preventive SAR
  • Wednesday, 17 Dec 2025 | 1300–2100 Outdoor/night focus: Shelter building, firecraft (please bring a bundle of dry firewood for the upside-down fire demonstration), night navigation exercise, clue awareness
  • Thursday–Friday, 18–19 Dec 2025 | 0900–1900 each day Full-scale simulated searches • Mornings: Clue awareness, reporting, team dynamics, communication • Afternoons: Live-find scenarios with victim extraction (all team tools and equipment required) • Final evaluation/test: 1500 on 19 Dec (reviews and feedback provided throughout the course)
  1. Participant Requirements (applies to everyone)
  • Minimum age: 18
  • Good physical condition required – except hiking on uneven terrain, lifting, carrying, and working in cold weather (below freezing)
  • Disclose any medical conditions in advance, so accommodations can be made
  • Personal gear – bring every day:
  • High-visibility, weather-appropriate layered clothing 
  • Sturdy, broken-in boots suitable for rough terrain 
  • Work gloves 
  • Compass and whistle 
  • Headlamp or flashlight with spare batteries 
  • Reusable water bottle and high-energy snacks that won’t freeze 
  • Small–medium daypack 
  • Personal first-aid kit (bandages, antiseptic, gloves, etc.) 
  • Basic survival items: multi-tool/knife, fire starter, emergency blanket, tarp or bivy, 10–15 m of cordage, whistle (already listed) 
  • All personal medications (inhaler, EpiPen, etc.)
  1. Expectations
  • Full attendance is mandatory for certification. Notify us immediately if you cannot attend any portion.
  • Active participation in both classroom and field exercises is required.
  • Teamwork and clear communication are core SAR skills – come ready to collaborate.
  • Maintain a positive, can-do attitude throughout the week.
  1. Administrative Items On Day 1 (15 Dec) please have the following ready:
  • Current mobile phone number and email
  • Emergency contact name and phone number (Forms will be provided on site.)
